Risky Business: Carta’s Rachel Sapers on balancing risk and growth

Rachel Sapers is Vice President and Chief Compliance Officer for AML at Carta. Carta helps people manage equity, build businesses, and invest in the companies of tomorrow. The company is trusted by more than 30,000 companies, over 5,000 investment funds, and half a million employees for cap table management, compensation management, liquidity venture capital solutions, and more.

Rachel started their in-house career in financial compliance at E*TRADE in 2008 and was promoted to Vice President, AML in 2016. In 2017, Rachel left E*TRADE to join Guidehouse as an Associate Director and helped clients with gap analyses, compliance program reviews, risk assessments, remediation efforts, and enhancement implementation. In their role at Carta, Rachel is responsible for leading the compliance function and developing compliance strategies across the company.

During our interview, we had the opportunity to ask Rachel how they came to work in risk management, their role at Carta, and their views on the role of risk management in driving business growth.
