Winter Workout Clothes That Won’t Make You Look Like A Snowman

By  |

snow wolf runWhen the weather outside is frightful, there's nothing you can do but suck it up and try to make the best of it. To combat the abominable weather, you know you have to dress accordingly. It's so hard though! Dressing for adequate warmth can get in the way of a good run. Bundling up may be cozy, but it's also pretty bulky. Not only will you look like a snowman, but you'll have the mobility of one. Snowmen suck at working out.

Being snuggled up in chunky layers is one thing if you're just trying to go from point A to point B however you can, but if you're going to be working out and sweating, you cannot be swaddled in cumbersome garments. We found some  winter workout essentials that won't make you look like a snowman:

Ear Warmer Headband- A hat could be overkill if you're going out running and your head sweats, but a ear-warming headband will keep delicate ears and chilly heads cozy while keeping your hair out of your face. earwarmer

Gloves– Keeping those mitts warm is pretty important, but mittens would be a little silly. These gloves don't get in your way and will keep your fingers from being chilled to the bone.running gloves

GapFit Breathe Thin Stripe Tee– This thin top will help keep you warm and keep you from overheating, The best part: thumbholes. You'll feel warmer, but you'll also be reminded of your angstier days when you used to bore thumbholes into all your sweaters. In general. you want to look for a breathable long sleeve workout tee that will keep you warm when you're not working out, and keep you cool when you are. We just liked this one because we're suckers for stripes.

Comfy, yet sleek, workout hoodie– A hood or collar is pretty critical to help keep your neck and head from being exposed to the harsh elements. We think you should go for a zip up, because it's easier to remove if you need to cool down a bit. This one is perfect for any activity from running to yoga to running to the yogurt shop. Plus it has pockets, so you can shove hand-warmers and other sundries in there.

Windbreaker– This Patagonia Houdini number is kind of my dream running jacket. When the weather is really shitty, wear it, but if it clears up or you get overheated, the whole thing stuffs into itself all teeny tiny. Magic like Houdini, baby. Sure, it's brightly colored, which I usually hate, but it will keep you from getting struck by a vehicle. rei windbreak
