Trader Joe’s Recalls Chocolate Chip Bars

By  |

California-based food retailer Trader Joe's have issued a recall for one of their popular treats, the Chocolate Chip Chewy Coated Granola Bars, due to concerns that they may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The voluntary recall began this past week, and was distributed nationally by Trader Joe's. The 7.4 oz boxes are marked with “Use by/Lot Codes” 16JUL10H2 and 17JUL10H1 on the top of the box and are also stamped individually on the side of each granola bar.

Though no illnesses have actually been reported, consumers are being urged to return the affected packages to any Trader Joe's store for a full refund. Customers with questions may contact Trader Joe’s Customer Relations Monday through Friday, 6am to 6pm PST at (626) 599-3817.

Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, and can be fatal for young children, the frail or elderly people.
