That Girl: Meet Professional Climber Steph Davis
Talk about a strong, determined, positive female! This week on That Girl we are celebrating professional rock climber and base jumper, Steph Davis. Not only does she spend her time climbing in Moab and traveling, but she also takes part in base jumping, running, yoga and skate skiing. But if you ask Steph, climbing is her first priority. “People always ask, ‘why do you climb?'”, she writes. “The short answer is, ‘Because I love it.' But there’s so much more… connecting deeply with friends and with the natural world, challenging my notions of what’s possible, living life as intensely and as simply as I can.” Read more about Steph and be inspired!

Fitness/health accomplishment you are most proud of:
Completing an ultramarathon: I think ultrarunners are unbelievable!
What inspires you to get fit every day?
Climbing is a demanding sport, and it's just not as much fun when you don't feel at your best performance.
What do you do when you don't feel like working out?
I listen to my body and my motivation. After 22 years of climbing, I know that if I don't feel like training or climbing, I don't need to. When I was younger I had problems with overtraining, so now I try to be more balanced. If I'm having a tired day, I either take it easy, or just do simple yoga, maybe take my dog for a walk.
Favorite energizing meal:
Tofu vegetable stir-fry with quinoa for dinner, a vegan protein smoothie for breakfast
What's your favorite way to chill post-workout?
This sounds nuts…but cleaning the house.
What is your top kick-ass workout?
I have an outdoor climbing wall in my backyard, and my husband just built me a campus board, so my favorite workout is to warm up by climbing on the wall for an hour or so, do about 15 minutes on the campus board, and then about 20 minutes of pullups and leg raises on my fingerboard–all pretty climbing-specific. I also love trail running.
Where is your favorite/most unique place you've ever exercised?
Every place I've climbed or base jumped in the world!
What's the biggest lesson you've learned through sports?
Stay focused, and follow your own drive.
