Olympic Track Star Lolo Jones Won’t Give Up Virginity, Even If Guys Say It Will Make Her ‘Faster’

Despite being a virgin (and wanting to stay that way until marriage), testosterone-filled guys tell Olympic track star Lolo Jones that she will run faster if she has sex. Is that just a ploy to get her into bed or does that really ring true?

In an interview on Real Sports With Bryant Gumbal that aired yesterday, the 29-year-old American athlete says remaining a virgin is the “hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life”:

Harder than training for the Olympics. Harder than studying for college, has been staying a virgin before marriage.

Jones went on to say that being a virgin makes her dating life especially challenging. She has tried nearly every dating website and even Twitter to find a mate. Adding to the challenge is dumb, testosterone-filled guys telling her that sex would improve her athletic career:

I’ve been tempted. I’ve had guys tell me, ‘You know, if you have sex, it will help you run faster.'

Ugh, isn't that just a typical guy response? Probably, but believe it or not, there is also research that supports that (despite people like Mohammed Ali who believed abstinence was helpful because “when you don't get sex for a while, you get mean and angry and it makes you a warrior.”) One informal survey of 2,000 marathoners showed that sex the night before the race actually improved performance the next day. Another expert said that sex the night before a race can actually be good because it will help you feel refreshed, relaxed and invigorated–all things that are important when running.

Regardless, Jones is staying true to herself and her values:

It’s just something, a gift I want to give to my husband. But, please understand, this journey has been hard.

Even if it does make you run faster, we say, good for you, Lolo!
