padma lakshmi nakedPlayboy got Padma Lakshmi naked (or close to it) for their December issue this year, and they also got her to gab about her weight and body image, before and after filming Bravo's Top Chef every year:

I’m lucky. I have a fast metabolism, I’m tall, and my digestive tract is ironclad and can really take a beating. Having been a model for 15 years, I also know a thing or two about how to dress if I’ve put on a few pounds. And I usually gain between 10 and 15 pounds over six weeks each season. Then I spend 12 weeks working it off. But it’s worth it. When the timer goes off and the food is ready, I’m really excited to eat.

The interview also delves into Padma Lakshmi's modeling career, explaining that while her family held her back from living “the fast life” that's associated with models, her mother taught her to leave body image issues at the door:

Having grown up in an Indian home, I’m quite conservative and risk-averse in many ways. I would have been too embarrassed for my mom and my grandparents in India to read some salacious thing about me. But having said that, I was also lucky because my mother instilled a really healthy attitude about my body. She taught me that the female form is one of the most beautiful, natural shapes on earth.

Although she also says that she was extremely uncomfortable getting naked for nude modeling jobs in the beginning of her career, her confidence and healthy body image is enviable–and something she's had for a long time. Padma also discussed her weight and body image when she was pregnant with her first baby in 2010, telling People:

During the course of filming Top Chef, I gain 15 lbs., so I'm used to needing two dress sizes. Now I'll just need three: my fat size, my skinny size and my super size.

We're jealous of her job–every time we turn on Bravo to watch Top Chef–and we're jealous of her body. But not because she claims to be able to eat like a professional food reviewer and maintain perfect model proportions. It's her confidence and comfort in her own skin–at any weight–that's really worth trying to emulate.
