There’s a lot of value in being smart. Your intelligence is a huge part of who you are and it can actually take you a lot of places. And in a world focused on advancement and opportunity, it only makes sense that you’d want to be smarter.

A wise, very attractive man once said, “The sexiest thing in the entire world, is being really smart.” I think we can all wholeheartedly agree. Being smart is an asset now more than ever and people are always looking for ways to become more intelligent.

And you know what the best thing about all of this is? There are things you can do every single day that’ll make you smarter. I’m not talking about some pill that allows you to harness the power of a thousand geniuses or anything stuff like that. These are simple, proven methods that over time can actually increase your brain function and make you smarter.

1. Get 7 to 9 Hours of Sleep

You’re probably going to hate me for saying this, but I really don’t care. You need to get more sleep. Sleep is essential. Your body needs to shut down so it can reboot. All that stuff you did during the day took a toll on your poor brain and unfortunately, sleep is the only way to repair it (as much as we wish a glass of wine would do the trick). Most adults get less than seven hours of sleep and that’s just not nearly enough to keep your brain in its best working condition. Getting even one extra hour of sleep can help make you smarter.
