Who here hates New Year’s Eve?

If you haven’t raised your hand or nodded in agreement, I don’t believe you.

New Year’s Eve is the epitome of a let down. Rarely does it ever live up to the hype — you know, The OC version where Marissa, heartbroken after Ryan fails to say the L word, heads to Oliver’s party — only to be surprised at the stroke of midnight by Ryan, redeeming himself.

In reality, you get dressed up and excited for a “very special night” only to end up with a next-day champagne hangover, or a disappointingly vague memory of whoever it is you chose to play tonsil hockey with. If you’re actually in a relationship, that doesn’t change things. Your BF/GF will inevitably disappoint you by failing to rise to the admittedly unreachable expectations — or you’ll get in a drunken fight that won’t matter in the morning, but will inevitably ruin the occasion.

However, if you do hate New Year’s, you’re not alone. “Joy” and “The Hunger Games” actress Jennifer Lawrence admits that she despises the holiday, too. While taping a New Year’s Eve special of “The Graham Norton Show,” Lawrence said: “I really hate it. I’ve never had a good one. Everyone’s chasing a good time, and it’s always a disappointment. I plan on doing nothing and then if something lands in my lap … but I always end up drunk and disappointed.”

Man, that’s deep. But at least we can sympathize with her. At least dead Marisa will always have Ryan’s magical New Year’s kiss to live on in her memory.
