In case you have been living under a rock, here’s some news: The Supreme Court legalized gay marriage, or equal marriage for everybody, last week. And if you’re not celebrating yet, which you very well should be, here’s some news that will make the Obergefell v. Hodges ruling that much sweeter.

In support of the positive ruling, Ben & Jerry’s is renaming one of their most popular ice cream flavors to match the sentiments we’re all feeling. For the rest of the summer, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough — aka your staple pick-me-up after a bad day…or bad date — will be appropriately named, “I Dough, I Dough” at participating Ben & Jerry’s scoop shops.

On their website, the ice cream Gods (as we like to call them), explain:

Across the country and around the globe, the movement for marriage equality is on an unstoppable roll, generating history-making victories, game-changing wins and growing waves of public support for legalizing same-sex marriage everywhere.

With this ruling, the SCOTUS recognizes the bond of love and commitment between two people, and protects the fundamental rights and freedoms that come with it.

Want a pint of your own? If you don’t live near a participating Scoop Shop, you can also purchase a sleeve for yourself online through Human Rights campaign, with all proceeds benefitting the organization.

Not a bad deal, eh? Eat delicious ice cream, support a great cause. I could really get into that (and by ‘get into that’ I mean open a pint of Ben & Jerry’s “I Dough, I Dough” ice cream).

CEO Jostein Solheim said in a press release, “Ben & Jerry’s is proud of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision against discrimination as it boldly stands up for equality for same sex couples everywhere.” While this support isn’t newfound for the company — they’re a longtime supporter of equal rights, and were the first major employer in Vermont to offer health insurance to domestic partners of employees, including same sex couples — it’s still refreshing to see a company as big as Ben & Jerry’s taking a stand. It shows other companies that they, too, can stand up for what’s right without worrying about backlash from non-supporters (aka, WRONG people).

I’m really excited about the overwhelming support for equal marriage. And, of course, life, liberty, and the pursuit of eating more ice cream.
