At Blisstree, we love to blast gender norms and rail at inequalities between the sexes, but we're also girly girls who like makeup. (Sue us.) And one of our favorite types of makeup is lip gloss. But we don't like the chemicals in commercially produced lip gloss, the money we dole out for a tiny tube, or the waste its packaging creates. Luckily for us, Planet Green gave us a DIY eco-friendly lip balm recipe that we're all over.

What you need:

1 teaspoon fresh aloe vera gel, either from a health food store or just cut open your own aloe vera plant's leaf

1/2 teaspoon coconut oil

1/8 teaspoon vitamin E oil

A clean container

Directions:

1. Mix all the ingredients together until smooth.

2. Pour into a clean container

Pretty simple, right? There are several ways to customize the recipe, though:

– Add a drop or two of mint oil to add a fresh scent and increase your energy.

– Color your gloss by adding a little bit of your favorite lipstick to the mixture. You might need to melt it a little first.

– Add a drop of lemon verbena oil to invigorate your balm.
