Cookbooks for Kids

For Christmas, I got The Chronicles of Narnia and Cooking Rocks! Rachael Ray's 30-Minute Meals for Kids. I'm almost done reading the first one, and the second should see service in a couple of years. My eldest is almost three and, when I bake, is right there at the kitchen counter with me. Since I'm such a fan of Rachael Ray's style of cooking, her cookbook for kids could be just the right help when the time comes for my kids to learn how to cook.

It's a great idea to start children early on a skill that will serve them well their entire lives. There are quite a number of cookbooks designed just for them. Some of them are:

* Emeril's There's a Chef in My Soup! Recipes for the Kid in Everyone. Includes 75 recipes by the New Orleans chef. A Caution bar at the top the page lets young cooks know how careful they need to be. For ages 9 to 12.

* The Kid's Cookbook: A Great Book for Kids Who Love to Cook! from Williams-Sonoma. More than 40 easy recipes for ages 9 and up.

* Children's cookbooks based on favorite children's books – various cookbooks based on classic children's books. An example is the Green Eggs and Ham Cookbook.
