Here’s A Recipe For A Candy Corn Smooothie That’s Actually Good For You—No, Really

If there’s one thing about Halloween, it’s the bloated and sad feeling I get from eating massive piles of candy corn after it goes on sale at CVS (or Duane Reade, if you live in the city).

To prevent that this year, we’re trying a different approach: Candy corn.. smoothies?

No, we don’t just mean putting candy corn in a blender with ice (or vodka). Jenna Tanaenbaum, an endurance athlete, recipe developer and founder of Green Blender—somewhat of a Plated or Blue Apron for smoothies, where customers receive fresh organic ingredients every week—has concocted Halloween-themed smoothies (think: candy corn), made with actual, good-for-you ingredients.

Because, why have ten Kit Kat bars when you can have an Almond Snickers smoothie…IN A MASON JAR?!?!?

Candy Corn Smoothie Green Blender

You’ll need:

  • 1 carrot – scrubbed, chopped
  • 1/4 cup pineapple
  • 1 apple – cored, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp camu camu powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup ice

Blend all of those right up! Wondering WTF ‘camu camu' is? You're not alone. It's a cheery-like fruit filled with Vitamin C, potassium and antioxidants. It's also what makes this candy corn a superfood. Which is, like, way better than that bag you'll devour in 5 minutes.


Almond Joy Smoothie

You'll need:

  • 2 handfuls kale
  • 2 bananas
  • 2 tbsp shredded coconut
  • 1 tbsp raw cacao powder
  • 2 tbsp raw almonds
  • 1 cup vanilla almond milk
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes

Blend and enjoy! It has kale, so it has to be healthy…right? Right. This ‘healthy smoothie disguised as dessert' is free of corn syrup and artificial flavoring. It's also loaded with potassium—feel free to also ‘load' it with toasted coconut flakes sprinkled on top!

You'll need:

  • 2 handfuls collard greens
  • 2 bananas
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder
  • 2 tbsp sliced almonds
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup ice

You just gotta… blend it. This looks amazing, and it's full of potassium, can help lower cholesterol, and has healthy fats from the chia seeds and almonds. It's pretty much the only thing that we'll ever reach for again when we hear, “Hungry? Grab a Snickers!”
