New Yorkers Like (Expensive and Surgically-Enhanced) Big Butts And They Cannot Lie

brazilian butt liftOut of all the citizens in all of the cities in all of these United States of America, the people of New York are the most interested in big butts and the numbers do not lie. According to statistics from a plastic-surgery referral website called RealSelf, New York plastic surgery seekers are the most interested in a procedure dubbed the Brazilian Butt Lift. That procedure involves taking fat from one part of the body and moving it to the booty because big butts are now in style.

Just how popular is booty enhancement in New York City? Well, between November 2013 and January 2013, over 378,000 New Yorkers inquired about Brazilian butt lifts. That's about thrice the number of inquiries from other cosmetic surgery havens like Los Angeles with its relatively paltry 138,227 butt lift inquiries and Miami's comparatively meager 108,341.

We can both blame and thank the famed butts of Beyonce, Nicki Minaj, Coco Austin and the like for this trend, as well as a general shift in body ideals, and a decrease in the stigmatization of cosmetic surgery. Stars like Katy Perry and Renee Graziano of Mob Wives have both admitted to enhancing their derrieres–there's speculation that even the famous butt-haver Kim Kardashian has turned to medical modifications to magnify her most celebrated asset.

If celebrities are openly getting their booties operated on and enhanced, then the general populous is soon to follow. The procedure can cost between $8,000 and $12,000, yet Manhattan plastic surgeon and butt-lift specialist, Dr. David Shafer claims he is consulting “up to eight patients…per week–the same number of breast augmentation queries.” Though I haven't sought out a consultation (and I won't), I do live in New York and would be hypothetically curious about a butt enhancing procedure. The price is far too steep and I'm scared of operations, but I've said it before and I'll say it again: if I ever go under knife voluntarily, it's going to be for a butt augmentation.
