16 Reasons You Should Cut a Toxic Friend Out of Your Life

By  |

If it hasn't happened to you, it's happened to someone you know. Toxic friends run rampant among young women and can certainly take their toll on you. Internalized misogyny, you know? When these types of friendships happen, it's important to take the necessary steps to get rid of the dead weight. When you realize your friend is toxic, don't hesitate to kindly remove them from your contacts and tell them to stop contacting you.

Some people are meant to be in your life, but a toxic friend is not. Your friend may be taking a negative toll on your life if you don't enjoy spending time with them, they don't encourage you to reach your full potential, or if they are jealous of your success instead of supportive. Toxic friends can be pessimistic people who gossip a lot about others and even give you backhanded comments that break your confidence and let's be honest, that can be exhausting. I'm exhausted just thinking about it. It isn't the type of relationship anyone should be in. Need a good reason to cut the crap and block them on Facebook? Doing so can actually have a lot of benefits on your life:

1. Negative Energy Can Affect Your Health

When a person is constantly putting you down and adding nothing but darkness to your life, it begins to affect you. You may be getting sick more often or having frequent headaches. Or maybe your energy levels are low and you feel depressed. Once you cut off your toxic friend, a dark cloud of relief will be lifted off of your shoulders. And you will feel so much better. Better than you even imagined you would have.
