Miley Cyrus’ Parents Are Splitting Up, Put Ring Watch 2013 On Hold For A Second

Boy oh boy, when it rains, it pours, am I right? While we've been spending day and night trying to keep up with the location of Miley Cyrus' engagement ring and deciphering the meaning behind wedding dress pictures like we're trapped in a new novel called The Da Miley Code, a very certain split was brewing in her own family. It's now official that Miley's parents Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus are splitting up after 19 years. So we gotta put Ring Watch 2013 on pause for a second to focus on this new issue. Don't you move, engagement ring. We'll be back soon enough.

Billy Ray and Tish have had issues in recent years, and Billy Ray even filed divorce papers a few years ago but changed his mind. It got to the point where I just assumed they had already split. It's hard to keep up with this stuff these days, especially when the relationship is between two middle-aged people and not between underage pop stars.

Apparently Tish made the decision this time around, requesting primary custody of Miley's younger sister Noah. Tish she gave your run-of-the-mill celebrity statement to People about it:

“This is a personal matter and we are working to find a resolution that is in the best interest of our family. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”

Billy Ray gave the magazine almost exactly the same statement, so they still have something in common:

“This is a personal matter and we are doing what is in the best interest of our family. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time.”

But that privacy thing kind of got thrown out of the window faster than Jessica Simpson's birth control when Miley took to Twitter yesterday to talk to her father.

I know divorce is a complicated time for the entire family involved, and Miley has had a strained relationship with her father recently, but you can't have it both ways, celebrities. You can't ask for privacy and then display your family drama for the public to see. Or drive a leopard-print car around, but that's a separate issue entirely.

Okay, Mr. Engagement Ring, my eye is on you again.
