Jesse Tyler Ferguson Married Justin Mikita This Weekend In Another Wedding I Wish I’d Attended
Jesse Tyler Ferguson received an Emmy nomination last week for his role on Modern Family, and a couple of days later he had something else to celebrate — his marriage to boyfriend of nearly two years Justin Mikita. The pair, who got engaged last year, married in downtown New York City on Saturday in another celebrity wedding I wish I'd attended, not only because Jesse and Justin are an adorable couple but also because it was of course attended by their fun celebrity friends, such as Jesse's onscreen sister Julie Bowen, who took a break from being my mental BFF to declare the ceremony “#bestweddingever.” The hashtag makes it official! Also in attendance were So You Think You Can Dance people Cat Deeley, Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy. (Jesse was recently a guest judge.) This I'm less excited about, but if I'd attended maybe they could have prevented me from doing the Elaine dance at the reception. Playwright/screenwriter Tony Kushner was in charge of officiating.
Even though Jesse and Justin live in California, where the Supreme Court recently ruled Prop 8 unconstitutional, they went through with their plans to marry in New York. Jesse explained his reasoning on The View last month after the ruling:
“It wasn't legal in California up until yesterday. Weddings are expensive, y'all, and we wanted to give that money to a state that accepted us as an equal. We're too far down the planning path to change.”
Jesse and Justin went the charity route for the wedding gifts, which I love. They asked guests to donate to Tie the Knot, an organization that fights for marriage equality. Now all that's left for me to feel like I was really there is for us to see some pictures. I need to know if they wore matching bow ties and also if they served mozzarella sticks. Because mozzarella sticks are fun and I like them.
We do have news about their honeymoon, however, thanks to Jesse's onscreen partner Eric Stonestreet. I'm not sure how trilled Jesse and Justin will be about this news, however.

Congratulations, Jesse and Justin! I wish you infinite happiness and also infinite mozzarella sticks! What? I like them.
