It's been a little over a year and a half since Ellen Page came out as gay during an emotional and inspirational speech at a Human Rights Campaign conference for LGBT teens. Flash forward to this past weekend, when she walked the red carpet for the first time with her girlfriend Samantha Thomas at the Toronto International Film Festival. The photos of them together are almost guaranteed to put a goofy smile on your face, because they're so gosh darn adorable it's ridiculous.

Ellen chose an appropriate event to debut her relationship with Samantha, a surfer, because it was the premiere of her new movie Freeheld. In the film, Julianne Moore plays a woman diagnosed with terminal cancer fighting for the right to leave her pension benefits to her domestic partner, played by Ellen.

During the red carpet, Ellen spoke to E! News about her decision to go public with her relationship, explaining that “walking down the carpet holding my girlfriend's hand is pretty special” and admitting, “I'm in love.” It's definitely not hard to see it in these photos. Both Ellen and Samantha look so happy that I've gone ahead and put my snark back in its snark box for as long as it takes me to write this post. I don't do that for just anyone, so these two should feel very special.

Look at their coordinating outfits! I'm a little bit obsessed with Samantha's vest/pants combo, not gonna lie. These photos, besides being totes adorbs and like ~*omg soooo cute*~, also serve as a reminder that Ellen Page is literally pocket-sized. It can be easy to forget until you see her standing next to someone for reference, but she's only 5'1″. Thankfully Samantha wore flats, so the photographers weren't faced with a Hayden Panettiere/Wladimir Klitschko situation, aka having to stand at least a mile away to get both of them in the same picture.
