Just 'cause you're not the main attraction, doesn't mean you're off the hook! Like, you know your habit of sometimes talking about people behind their backs? Or how, even if you're not the one to start gossiping, you gladly take part? Standing up for yourself is fine, but unless someone's done something hurtful to you directly, cut other people some slack!
