Ever since The Vampire Diaries aired its series finale last year, we've felt like there's been something missing from our lives. Don't you just miss those Salvatore brothers? We do… so much, hence why when we caught word that a spin-off show was in the works, we couldn't contain our excitement. Now, it's official! The CW network has confirmed that a TVD and Originals spin-off show called Legacies is happening and more details have FINALLY been revealed.

Let's take you back to the series finale for a second. Remember toward the end of the episode (after Stefan sacrifices himself for his brother and the town of Mystic Falls), Alaric Saltzman and Caroline Forbes open the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted? Watch below:

This is what Legacies will be about. The show will reportedly focus on the character Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell), who plays Klaus and Hayley's daughter, and her time at a school for the supernatural. She went to the school on The Originals season four when it became apparent that the supernatural forces were not going to stop trying to kill her. She will be joined by a number of cast members from the original shows, including Aria Shahghasemi (Landon) and Matthew Davis (Alaric), as well as Lily Rose and Tierney Smith (who played Alaric's twin daughters Josie and Lizzie Saltzman on TVD).

According to the CW's official synopsis, it seems like the new “legacies” will have to figure out where they fall in the supernatural and whether they want to fight for the good side – or the bad. “Will these young witches, vampires, and werewolves become the heroes they want to be — or the villains they were born to be?” it reads. It will be interesting to see where the show goes with this. Plus, there's no telling which former Vampire Diaries or Originals cast members could make a surprise appearance. As of right now, there's no confirmation on whether Candice King will return as Caroline, or if Joseph Morgan (Klaus) will make a few cameos to visit his daughter, but we're sure there will be more details soon. It would also be great to catch up with characters like Bonnie Bennett and Matt Donovan. Or here's an idea: Damon and Elena could pop up for an episode or two to give us all the reunion we deserved in the finale! How great would that be?

Even Julie Plec, who is one of the masterminds behind TVD and The Originals, shared her excitement on Twitter.

The spin-off announcement also makes saying goodbye to The Originals in the next few months a little easier. The promise of more stories is exactly what we needed to cushion the blow. It'll give us so much to look forward to.
