Taylor Swift is just full of surprises! Late last week, the country musical duo Sugarland dropped a new song called “Babe,” and it features vocals from Taylor. It turns out, the “Look What You Made Me Do” singer wrote the song for her 2012 album Red, but it never made the cut! Those of you who are familiar with that album know that it was released soon after she split from then-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal. Now, all these years later, fans are left wondering whether “Babe” is about him too!

Whether the song is really about Jake remains unconfirmed, but it's definitely about someone who cheated on Taylor back in the day. “Your secret has its consequence and that’s on you, babe / I break down every time you call / We’re a wreck, you’re the wrecking ball / We said no one else, how could you do this, babe?” the lyrics of the second verse read.

“Since you admitted it, I keep picturing / Her lips on your neck, I can’t unsee it / I hate that because of you, I can’t love you, babe / What a shame, didn’t want to be the one that got away / How could you do this, babe?” Sugarland sings in the bridge.

It's too bad this song wasn't released with the rest of her Red album. Fans would have had a field day with these lyrics. But, does this really mean that Jake cheated on Taylor? Well, considering that it's widely believed that Jake is the person Taylor sings about in hits like “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” “All Too Well,” and “The Moment I Knew,” it could very well be that she wrote “Babe” for the famed actor, too. Regardless, fans definitely seem to think it's about him.

“Oh it's jake 100%, it's got soooo many parallels to all too well and the last time and the moment i knew,” one fan tweeted, while another joked that they need to have a talk with Mr. Gyllenhaal.

Another fan made a very good point by saying that the lyrics to “Babe” and “The Moment I Knew” go hand-in-hand. After re-reading both song lyrics, it makes total sense. “You called me later / And said, ‘I'm sorry, I didn't make it' / And I said, ‘I'm sorry too' / And that was the moment I knew,” Taylor sings in Red track, which sounds a lot like she means she knew he had cheated on her.

Of course, we'll never really know since Taylor rarely names names, but we can't help but be curious. It would explain a lot too. The couple dated for three months in 2011 before Jake broke Taylor's heart in December. Back in 2013, when she was promoting the album, she even said that one of her exes had reached out after listening to Red. Naturally, everyone assumed she was referring to Jake.

“He was like, ‘I just listened to the album, and that was a really bittersweet experience for me. It was like going through a photo album.' That was nice,” Taylor told New York Magazine at the time. “Nicer than, like, the ranting, crazy e-mails I got from this one dude.” Perhaps that one dude is John Mayer? He wasn't too thrilled when he heard “Dear John,” that's for sure.
