It makes sense that when you have an on-again-off-again relationship as tumultous as the one between Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber, your fam might not necessarily be thrilled to hear the roller coaster ride is continuing. But it must be pretty serious to cause the kind of estrangement Selena and her mom are currently experiencing. Now, the “Good for You” songstress's mom, Mandy Teefey, has broken her silence on the recent drama.

In an interview with Gossip Cop, she admitted that she's “not happy” about her daughter's rekindled relationship with Justin, adding that she hasn't spoken to the “Sorry” singer in years. Mandy also said that Selena is an adult and can make her own choices regarding her love life.

However, that doesn't mean Mandy doesn't worry about Selena's health and how Justin could affect it following her kidney transplant. “She is 25 years old and knows what is at stake with her health. I do not control her the way it has been portrayed,” Mandy told the website.

Over the summer, Selena underwent a kidney transplant after suffering from lupus for years. It was a secret that she was undergoing such a serious procedure until she posted it on her social media, thanking her best friend, Francia Raisa, for saving her life.

“There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis,” Selena wrote alongside a photo of them holding hands in the hospital.

Mandy described her daughter as “brave and fearless” and feels blessed to have Francia in their lives. She recalled being a “wreck inside not only for my daughter but for Francia and her family” during the time of the operation. “I am pretty sure I am banned from that hospital [now],” she joked.

Mandy also addressed the reported rift between her and her daughter after Selena fired her mom as her manager in 2014.”Every mother and daughter have disagreements,” she said.

“We never expected to manage her [for] her whole life. We lost family time because the only time we saw her, we talked business,” she further explained. “It was no longer fun for any of us like it was when she was younger and we had to be with her because she was a minor.”

So where does that leave Justin in all this? Well, Mandy acknowledged that Selena can do whatever she wants. “Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy,” she said. “[She] is an adult and can make her own choices.”

Justin and Selena rekindled their on-again romance in November after Selena called it quits with The Weeknd. Since then, they've pretty much been inseparable despite the fact that her family isn't totally on board with her decision to give him another chance.

In November, Selena opened up about letting Justin back into her life.

“I’m 25. I’m not 18, or 19, or 20,” the singer told Billboard magazine. “I cherish people who have really impacted my life. So maybe before, it could have been forcing something that wasn't right. But that doesn't mean caring for someone ever goes away.”

Since then, the couple have gone on a romantic getaway together and even spent New Year's Eve on a beach in Cabo. They've also gone to quite a few Sunday Masses together since linking back up again. While we totally understand Mandy's worries regarding her daughter's health, in the last few months it seems that Justin has been nothing but a good influence on Selena.
