Scott Patterson, otherwise knows as the lovable Luke Danes on Gilmore Girls, opened up about the one storyline he really disliked in the show’s revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. No, it’s not the fact that they left Rory’s future hanging in the balance at the end. It wasn’t the musical, either. It turns out, the actor’s least favorite – and what he calls the “least satisfying” – part of the revival was when Lorelai and Luke decide to consider having a child via surrogacy.

“I gotta be honest with you, I didn’t like it. I understand why it was there. It was such an awkward situation for me as a character,” he told Us Weekly in a new interview. “They were thinking a lot of humor could come out of this and it did. I just think it was a little too far field for me personally.”

Scott admitted that filming those scenes were tough days for him on set and that he didn’t settle into that part of the story very well. He believes he knows his character well enough to know how he would feel if he was actually going through a similar situation with the person he loved.

“I know that guy [his character] very well and I know how he feels,” Scott explained. “Just the fact that he hung around for so long and the way he feels the way he does about her [Lorelai Gilmore]. I mean, of course he wants to have a child with her.”

“I didn’t like it. I just did not and I let that be known,” he added. “I absolutely get why they did it and I think it provided some really, really fresh humor. But I would have been happier without it.”

We totally understand what he means. If you’re a die-hard Gilmore Girls fan, then you know that Luke Danes is a man’s man. That’s why we understand why Scott feels the plot line was a little random. The writers could have definitely gone another way, but we have to admit it was a good way to get Liza Weil, who played Paris Geller, more screen time on the revival.

Elsewhere in Scott’s interview, he was asked the question everyone is DYING to know: Would he consider doing another season of the show? His answer is yes, but under one condition!

“I was asked this recently and the knee jerk response was, ‘Yes, absolutely. I would sign on.’ But with further reflection — and I have a lot of trust when it comes to the writing — but I would really need to see the script first. Because you just never know,” he said. “It’s really a 75 percent yes at this point but there’s that 25 percent that needs to read a script and see how I feel about it.”

Now we just need Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Milo Ventimiglia, Matt Czuchry, Emily Bishop and the rest of the cast to agree! We gotta know who’s the father of Rory’s baby…
