We can officially get excited about the Roswell reboot because the revival of the '90s teen drama has been ordered to series by the CW! Though the original series didn't do so well (it was canceled after three seasons), we have high hopes that the reboot will – especially since the OG show's become a cult classic since it went off air. The reboot features a great cast and will apparently bring in elements relevant to current political topics like immigration. Now, the show's leading lady, Jeanine Mason opened about what we can expect from the reboot!

Roswell, New Mexico is based on the book series Roswell High, then turned into the TV series in the ’90s,” she told a Miami news outlet before getting into detail about her character Liz Orteco. “She’s Mexican-American. It’s border town, alien vibes, sci-fi feel, X-Files, all my faves.”

“And she’s a scientist, she’s super smart. She’s coming home 10 years after leaving Roswell to discover that some very crazy things are happening here,” Jeanine added.

The actress also dished some details regarding the show's pilot, revealing that they incorporated her dance background into the show. “I’ll just tell you it involves a jukebox and it’s a late night. I’m probably already in trouble for saying that!” she said. You might remember Jeanine from her days on So You Think You Can Dance. She was season five's winner and later went on to star in CSI and Criminal Minds. She also appeared in 12 episodes of Grey's Anatomy this season (as Dr. Sam Bello), but left the show presumably because she landed a role in the CW's Roswell.

According to the reboot's synopsis, Jeanine's character returns to her hometown of Roswell, New Mexico and discovers that her teenage crush Max (who's now a police officer) is an alien. He's been hiding his “unearthly abilities” for his entire life. Liz, who promises to protect his secret, helps Max find out about his origins and the two develop a connection. But a violent attack that causes the town's residents to become aware of aliens threatens Max's life and the couple's romance. We love the more adult spin on a high school show!

Actor Nathan Parsons, who you might recognize from True Blood or The Originals, will play Max. Meanwhile, other famous names are linked to the reboot as well. The Vampire DiariesMichael Trevino will play Kyle Valenti and Pretty Little Liars star Tyler Blackburn will take on the role of Sgt. Alex Manes, “a soldier returning home from war and adjusting to life in Roswell.”

The original Roswell starred many actors that went on to have successful careers, including Katherine Heigl who landed a leading role on Grey's Anatomy and the original Liz, Shiri Appleby, who now stars on Lifetime's unReal. As of right now, none of the original cast has been announced for the reboot but we're hoping they'll make some cameos!
