Riverdale Writer Promises ~Steamy~ Cheryl & Toni Scenes On The Way

If you're obsessed with Cheryl Blossom & Toni Topaz's relationship on Riverdale, you're going to love this news. According to one of the show's writers, Cheryl and Toni have scenes “better than just kisses” on the way, and now we're dying to know exactly what that means.

On April 22, writer Brian E. Paterson tweeted that “Choni fans” can expect some “good stuff” coming up on the season's final few episodes. They've had some cute moments, but so far Cheryl's coming out experience has been surrounded by a lot of violence and negativity. So that spoiler alone is enough to get us excited, and fans immediately replied flipping out.

But then, when a fan tweeted him in hopes of his hint meaning that Cheryl and Toni will be kissing, Brian had even better news to share. “We've got stuff on tap better than just kisses,” he replied. WHAT? Unfortunately, he didn't share any details beyond that, but it's enough to get us pumped for the upcoming episodes… especially after the way Carrie: The Musical ended last week.

Now, we just have to try to decode exactly what this means. At this point, it seems like Brian could mean one of two things: There are some seriously steamy scenes coming our way, or we'll get to see their relationship fleshed out even better than just simply seeing them smooch. Or, if our dreams are really coming true, both will happen. After all, we've seen some hot sex scenes between Bughead and Varchie, so isn't it about time we gave the same-sex couples some love (in more ways than one)?! The curiosity is killing us.

The Cheryl/Toni relationship is something we never saw coming, but now that it's here, we're kind of obsessed. With how insane things with her family has been, Cheryl needs someone to lean on, and Toni is so much more interesting now that her character has more depth than just being a Southside Serpent that Jughead befriended and had some sexual tension with. We know this isn't the first time an LGBTQ couple has been represented on the show (does anyone else miss Kevin's relationship with Joaquin?), we're never going to say no to some more representation.

We hate even thinking about the fact that Riverdale’s second season is about to end, but knowing that we have some good scenes with Cheryl and Toni to look forward to does soften the blow a little bit. These two are so perfect together, and is it so wrong to want Cheryl to get what she wants? After everything she's been through over the past two seasons, we'd say Cheryl deserving happiness is the understatement of the year.
