Now that we’re just months away from The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina hitting Netflix, fans have been wondering if this means that it’ll cross over with another Archie Comics hit — Riverdale – especially since they share the same showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. Lili Reinhart has already said, “it wouldn’t make sense for those two worlds to collide,” and now her CW costar is agreeing with those sentiments.

The actress who plays Josie McCoy has firmly stated she doesn’t think bringing the two shows together is a good idea at all. During a panel with Popsugar this week, Ashleigh Murray said a Riverdale andSabrina crossover probably shouldn’t ever happen.

But why? As Ashleigh sees it, it just wouldn’t make sense for their universes to merge.

“I’m going to say no. And I say no because Sabrina is a very different world,” she said. “And I don’t know how, if they’re going to play into her magical-ness, and if it’s not just her that has that situation. Riverdale is so based in this type of reality that I’m not sure that bringing the two together… is something that you could walk away from. If it would be a one-off thing, then [it might be] fine if they’re able to separate the two.”

This is a good point. As awesome as it would be to see Betty and Jughead interact with Sabrina and Harvey (double date, anyone?!), it might not be realistic to bring Sabrina and her magic into their so-far non-magical world. There’s a lot of weird stuff happening in this town, but so far, none of it has had to do with the supernatural. Sabrina would either have to leave her magic behind, or there’d need to be a way to explain it that made sense in the Riverdale universe. Is that even possible?

Ashleigh also seemed a little concerned about the fact that bringing the cast of another show into Riverdale‘s already giant group might make things confusing.

“Our show is already so large, and I think bringing that in, it would just make it – it would be like when you mix a bunch of paint together and you get a bunch of brown,” she said. “Not that there’s anything wrong with brown.”

However, Vanessa Morgan feels a little differently, and she’s definitely rooting for the crossover to happen — but with one stipulation.

“I will say that I would love it,” Vanessa said at the panel. “I would love it if it does take place in Greendale. I was obsessed with Sabrina growing up. I love magic, I love all that stuff. I would love it if we went over.”

As much as we’d love to see Greendale and Riverdale come together — and it might even be a cool way of introducing Sabrina’s character before the show debuts on Netflix — for it to make any sense at all, it’ll have to be done very carefully. Guess we’ll just have to trust Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and the rest of the writers on this one… if a crossover ever even happens. So far, they haven’t done fans wrong.
