The spin-offs just keep coming! As most fans already know, last year it was revealed that a Riverdale spin-off called The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was in development, but now it's been confirmed that a SECOND series is in the works at The CW! This means that we'll get to see even more of our favorite Archie Comics characters on our TV screens in no time.

While speaking at The CW’s Television Critics Association, the network's president, Mark Pedowitz, announced the exciting news. “In terms of spin-offs out of Riverdale, I’m waiting to hear what Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] has in mind,” he said. “He has something in mind.”

Though Roberto didn't elaborate on the details nor did he mention whether any of our fave characters on the show will be involved, he did reveal that he hopes to develop it in time for a possible slot in the 2019-2020 television season. “We're really excited but we're still early on in the process,” he told reporters, adding the new show will be very different from Riverdale.

How exciting is this? Pretty soon there will be a show about every single character! We're not mad at that. Now that another spin-off series is official, we can't help but wonder who it'll be about. Will Josie and the Pussycats finally get the attention they deserve? Or perhaps it'll be a prequel focused on Archie, Veronica, Betty, and Jughead's parents when they were teens? The possibilities are endless especially because there's still a whole lot of Archie Comics content to be uncovered. Considering Riverdale has found massive success, fans will be happy with pretty much anything related that comes their way. We know we will.

Despite being a spin-off from the Archie Comics universe, it's also been confirmed that new Sabrina will not be connected to Riverdale and, sadly, there won't be any crossovers – at least not for now. When asked why, Roberto explained, “I think right now we’re just making sure that the shows have their own identities and own set of rules.” Considering that we can expect supernatural elements on Sabrina, something not explicitly present on Riverdale, that makes sense.

Actress Ashleigh Murray, who plays Josie McCoy on Riverdale, made some pretty valid points about why a Sabrina crossover might not work. “Sabrina is a very different world. And I don't know how, if they're going to play into her magical-ness, and if it's not just her that has that situation… Riverdale is so based in this type of reality that I'm not sure that bringing the two together… is something that you could walk away from,” she told a Scream Queens Popsugar panel (as reported by Digital Spy). She went on to say that if a crossover were to happen, it would disrupt the flow of the show, which totally makes sense when you think about it.

It's too soon to tell for now, but we're just glad we have a whole new season of Riverdale and TWO confirmed seasons of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to look forward to! Plus, news of this new spin-off series just makes us excited about the future of Archie Comics!
