A Live-Action Kim Possible Disney Channel Original Movie Is Happening!
If you’re a fan of early 2000s Disney Channel, boy, do we have some thrilling news for you. A live-action Kim Possible movie is actually in the works at the network. This is not a drill. Everybody stay calm!
What’s the sitch? According to Variety, the movie is still in its earliest stages, bringing the show and the title character, who was originally voiced by former Even Stevens star Christy Carlson Romano, to life in a brand new way. Casting has JUST begun on the project, so this is definitely a new development… but that doesn’t make it any less exciting. It’s been more than 10 years since fans have last caught up with Kim, Ron, and of course, Rufus the naked mole rat, but the love for the show has definitely endured all the way into 2018, so there’s no doubt in our minds that the movie will be a huge success.
And just in case you’re worried that a live-action version of the beloved animated show won’t be able to do the original justice, it definitely sounds like it’s in good hands. The original series creators Mark McCorkle and Robert Schooley are writing the script and serving as executive producers, so it seems like the new movie will be made by people who can definitely appreciate the Kim Possible we all grew up with and loved.
Disney Channel’s EVP of original programming, Adam Bonnett, released the following statement:
Mark and Bob created an enduring character and kids all over the world found a friend in her, an average girl who just happens to spend her off-school hours thwarting evil villains. Although Kim Possible ‘can do anything,’ kids and tweens found that this animated redhead was just like them. As we embark on the fun challenge of making Kim and Ron fully dimensional, I’m thrilled to be working again with Mark and Bob and to welcome the addition of a dynamic creative team – Josh, Zanne, Adam and Zach – into a world where anything is indeed possible.
So far, there aren’t many details on the movie, since it’s still in development, but Disney also took to Twitter to announce the good news on Wednesday morning:

Fingers crossed that more info is on the way. First things first: we need to know who Disney Channel is going to cast as their new Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable. Without the perfect casting, this whole thing could totally fall apart. Oh, and Sheoo. We need a good villain, too. Disney Channel, please send updates!
