It’s been exactly five years since Cory Monteith tragically died of a heroin overdose after relapsing with his addiction in 2013, but his legacy still will not soon be forgotten. Glee fans have taken to Twitter to voice how much they miss the late actor and his girlfriend and TV co-star at the time of his death, Lea Michele, has also shared a beautiful post on social media about how those who have passed away stay with us.

Sharing a photo of the sunset, Lea shared the quote, “There are some who bring a light so great to the world, that even after they have gone, the light remains,” complete with a red heart emoji. It’s amazing how something so simple can be so emotional.

Lea played Rachel Berry on the Fox show from 2009 to 2015. Cory played Finn Hudson, who was Rachel’s boyfriend for a majority of the series. The two’s on-screen relationship was just as beloved as that they shared off-screen. After Cory’s untimely death midway through the show’s run, the showrunners decided his character would also die and dedicated an episode to mourning him, though they opted to never reveal exactly how it happened. Lea will likely not be the only major Glee star to post a tribute for Cory, though she was the first. Throughout the years, it seems like all of his co-stars sign onto social media on July 13th to talk about Cory’s influence on the people he knew and the world as a whole – from Matthew Morrison to Heather Morris, Naya Rivera and more.
We’ll keep our eyes peeled for more tributes and post them as they come…
