While many women in Hollywood are being praised for showing their support for the Time’s Up movement, one person who’s being called a hypocrite for donning the protest pin is one Mr. Justin Timberlake. The boy bander-turned-actor has been slammed for supporting the women’s empowerment movement after several questionably misogynistic moments in the past — particularly his recent decision to work with alleged rapist and accused pedophile Woody Allen.

“Here we come!! And DAMN, my wife is hot! #TIMESUP #whywewearblack,” J.T. wrote alongside a photo of he and his wife Jessica Biel before walking the red carpet.

In case you SOMEHOW haven’t heard, stars like Reese Witherspoon, Oprah, Natalie Portman, and the whole cast of Stranger Things wore black at the Golden Globes this year in support of victims of sexual assault, harassment and abuse in Hollywood and other industries around the world. Thus, the former *NSYNC star’s public support of the movement, while praising an accused perpetrator of violence and starring in Allen’s recent film Wonder Wheel isn’t sitting well with fans.

However, it’s not just the Woody Allen thing that’s getting Justin called TF out. Immediately after he shared the selfie with his wife, the comments started pouring in calling him out for participating in all sorts of “malicious misogyny” in the past.

“How do you justify wearing black in sympathy with victims of sexual assault while appearing in a new woody allen film?” one person wrote, while another called out JT for maltreatment of Britney Spears and Janet Jackson. “You built a career on malicious misogyny towards Britney Spears. You left Janet Jackson out to dry. This is pure performative fraud,” the individual wrote.

People really do have a point, especially since Justin never publicly apologized to Janet after the Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction in 2004. You might remember the controversial moment when JT tore a piece of Janet’s top off, revealing her nipple live to millions of viewers and getting her a lifetime ban from the event. Though some perceived the moment as a publicity stunt, Justin never said sorry for the role he played. We also know, considering he snagged the Half Time Show again this year, that Janet was the only one penalized after the incident.

However, although he never gave Janet the respect she deserved, fans still think Justin’s role in Woody’s movie is worse. The 82-year-old was accused of sexually abusing his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, when she was just seven years old. Yet, he’s still working alongside famous stars like Blake Lively and Kate Winslet. This has lead many to wonder why Hollywood hasn’t banished him like they did Harvey Weinstein.

All we know for sure is that Justin – as well as many other celebrities – is a big fan of his. In November, Justin praised the filmmaker and said he loved working with him. “I will say this, working with Woody Allen was like a dream come true,” he said on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

“I struggle with how a powerful force like Justin Timberlake can claim to be in awe of the strength of women and stand with them at this #MeToo moment and then in the next breath say that working with Woody Allen is a ‘dream come true,'” Dylan Farrow told Buzzfeed.

If Justin’s “dream” consists of working with an alleged sexual abuser, then that’s his prerogative. However, you can’t blame people for calling him a hypocrite when he wears a “Time’s Up” pin and tries to brand himself as one of the “good guys,” despite that “dream.”
