Relationships are hard, but breakups hurt like hell. Less than two weeks after calling off his wedding to Nikki Bella, John Cena broke his silence regarding the devastating break up. While promoting the film Bumblebee at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the WWE star opened up to multiple news outlets about how he’s dealing with split.

He told E! News that life is tough, but it goes on. “Nicole knows I love her and I miss her, but that is what it is. And I’m still here, still going — and I choose to go,” he said. “When you love somebody, it stings. That’s why musicians write about it. That’s why poets write about it. If anything, just try to take away what went wrong and enjoy the good times you had with the person that you love.”

“It sucks,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “There’s no other way to say [it]. I love Nicole with all my heart, and that’s that.” He also revealed that as hard as the situation may be right now, he’s going to get through it. “I love her. I’ll always love her,” he told TMZ at the same event. “The fact that my heart hurts for her… I know I was in love. So, I’ll always have that.”

His comments literally want to make us cry. We wish there was a way for them to work things out, but we don’t know what problems their relationship may have had behind closed doors. Brie Bella recently told People that her twin sister’s break up with John will be featured on the new season of Total Bellas, which premieres in May on E!. She noted that there were conversations between John and Nikki that will make fans understand what led to the end of their love story.

The couple announced their split on April 15, with sources telling People that Nikki was the one who ended it because she didn’t need “a pity husband” nor “a pity wedding.” Apparently, John was making it pretty clear that he was getting cold feet before the wedding. “Nikki is an amazing, talented, strong, one-of-a-kind woman. Anyone would be lucky to have her in their life — yet John acted more and more like he was doing her a favor by somehow conceding to go ahead and marry her,” an insider said.

Even though John didn’t want to get married, it doesn’t mean that he didn’t love Nikki. Since the split, he’s also shared messages on Twitter which mirror is recent comments. “Hardship, loss, and humility are extremely difficult waters to navigate, but perseverance through them builds a strength to withstand anything life throws your way,” he tweeted.

John and Nikki were together for six years, so their decision to break up is not one that they (or their fans) will quickly get over.
