He's usually busy making us laugh every weeknight, but now, Jimmy Fallon is going through some seriously tough stuff. All tapings of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon have been canceled this week following the death of Jimmy's mother, Gloria. She was 68.

Fans first knew something was wrong last Friday when Jimmy unexpectedly canceled his show because of a family emergency. Less than 24 hours later, Gloria had passed away. According to E! News, Jimmy and his family were at her bedside at NYU Langone Medical Center when it happened. “Today, I lost my biggest fan,” Jimmy told USA Today on Saturday, confirming the news.

NBC also released the following statement to Just Jared on the taping cancellations:

“On behalf of everyone at NBC, we extend our deepest condolences to Jimmy and all his family at this time of enormous loss. Our hearts go out to Jimmy and everyone else whose lives were so touched by Gloria Fallon’s love, kindness and support. The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon tapings have been cancelled for the week of November 6-10. Repeat episodes will be scheduled.”

His friends and fellow celebrities have already flocked to Twitter to share their condolences with Jimmy, including Miley Cyrus, who was a guest on his show earlier this year. It's heartbreaking to imagine what he and his family are going through right now, but it's good to hear that they have plenty of support backing them up along the way.

If you've been watching his show for awhile, you know that Jimmy often used the things Gloria would say to him for his #MomQuotes segment and tweeted about her often. Jimmy has yet to comment on social media about what happened himself, and his Twitter and Instagram accounts haven't been updated since before his mom's death. Even so, it sounds like they were very close, so this must be a very difficult time for the the comedian. It's hard to imagine someone so upbeat going through something like this, but from the stories he told on The Tonight Show, he seems to have plenty of happy memories of the time he spent with her.

We'll definitely miss The Tonight Show this week, but it's a good thing Jimmy's taking the time he needs to grieve for such a huge loss. We know when he comes back to work, his family, friends, and fans will be rooting for him.
