Jennifer Lawrence & Director Darren Aronofsky Call it Quits After One Year
Another Hollywood couple bites the dust! Jennifer Lawrence and Mother! director Darren Aronofsky have split after one year of dating. According to Entertainment Tonight, the couple parted ways a month ago, but still remain friends.
The two managed to keep the split under wraps even after both attending the 2017 Governors Awards in Los Angeles earlier this month. They kept things friendly and even sat together. As per usual, Jennifer was her silly self, posing with Emma Stone on the red carpet. Not one person suspected that she and Darren had broken up, with the source telling ET that things between them are not awkward.
So what went wrong? It's hard to say considering Jennifer recently opened up about her relationship with Darren on The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast.
“I had a crush on him when he pitched [Mother!] to me, and that was like a year before we started rehearsing, but he was a professional, which only made it worse for me,” she said. “We just formed a friendship and then the friendship turned into a partnership for the movie, once we started working. And then once the movie was done, I was like, ‘All right! You’re my boyfriend.'”
But, despite the fact that people thought their relationship wouldn't last because of their significant age gap (Jennifer is 27 and Darren is 48), the two definitely seemed like they were always having a good time together. You might remember Jennifer and Darren making headlines last year after they were photographed sharing a lollipop on more than one occasion.
You know what they say… couples that share lollipops together, stay together. That is clearly not the case, however, it was still cute while it was happening. Unfortunately, though, we need to add Jennifer and Darren to the LONG list of celebrity couples who called it quits in 2017.
In the past, the The Hunger Games actress had relationships with both Coldplay's Chris Martin and her X-Men co-star, Nicholas Hoult. In a 2015 interview with Diane Sawyer, Jennifer opened up about Nicholas and how their relationship affected her after it was over.
“I was also in a relationship with somebody for five years, and that was my life,” she said. “So my life was this person and these movies [The Hunger Games], and we broke up around the same time that I wrapped those movies. Being 24 was this whole year of, ‘Who am I without these movies? Who am I without this man?'”
We feel you, J. Law! Breakups are hard. However, with or without a man, she's amazing — and the man that does end up with Jennifer is one lucky man.
