Ever since Daniel Craig announced in August 2017 that he would be retiring from the James Bond franchise, the search for the next 007 has been on. A lot of fans wanted to see Idris Elba to take on the part, while others like the idea of Tom Hiddleston or Jon Hamm. But never in our wildest dreams did we ever think that Harry Styles had a shot at the coveted role.

Well, according to Spectre‘s film editor, Lee Smith, the former One Direction singer could definitely be the next James Bond if they were intested in casting a younger version. “Harry could do it. If they wanted a younger Bond then why not? He has got it,” he told The Daily Star.

Although it was just a suggestion, Lee’s casting choice isn’t entirely unrealistic since Christopher Nolan is currently in talks to direct the next Bond film. He also directed Dunkirk, which was Harry’s first-ever major film role. Therefore, he knows what Harry can bring to the table if he’s chosen.

“Harry is really good, and he can go all the way. He is an exceptional talent and a complete natural on camera,” Lee continued. “You would have thought you were dealing with a guy with many years of experience. You would never know that was his first film. I didn’t know who Harry was.”

“If he wants to act, I cannot imagine he would not have a great future,” he added.

But Lee isn’t the only person to say that Harry has some serious acting chops. Christopher also praised the 23-year-old, saying he wasn’t surprised that Harry was so talented.

“My job […] is to meet someone, audition them, look at them, and figure out what they can do,” Christopher told BBC Radio 1. “But I was very pleased by people’s reaction to what Harry did. He’s very, very real in what he does in the film, which is what I wanted. It’s very truthful.”

While some might argue that Harry is too young, he wouldn’t be playing the role right now. It was confirmed earlier this year that Daniel would be returning for the 25th Bond film, which means that his replacement is not expected to hit screens until 2022. Harry would then be 28, which seems like the perfect fit if the franchise is looking to take the film in that direction.

Even though the future of the James Bond franchise is in very early stages, Harry’s fans are totally on board with the idea. In fact, they pretty much went wild at the possibility.

Regardless of whether he gets cast or not, the fact that a Bond editor would even suggest Harry for the role is all the motivation he needs to keep acting!
