Gilmore Girls star Matt Czuchry revealed that even though playing Logan Huntzberger made him a household name, it wasn’t always an easy gig! In fact, he told Stephen Colbert that he was frequently called an assh*le by fans while he was out and about. How rude, right? Well, it turns out not many people were #TeamLogan when he first started out on the show. “Yeah, you know, in [my] first season especially, people would just come up to me immediately without saying anything and say, ‘You know, you’re a real a–hole,'” he recalled.

So when he would ask them why they were calling him names, Matt didn’t realize fans were referring to his character. After all, we can all admit Logan was a little bit of a jerk sometimes.

“I would ask them, ‘Okay, why am I an assh*le?’ and they’d say, ‘You know why you’re an assh*le,'” the actor explained on The Late Show. “Then they’d say, ‘No, no, no I’m Team Jess or Team Dean.’ I went, ‘Oh! You’re talking about the character on the show.’ I didn’t know what was going on. Literally, people would just come up to me and say how much of an assh*le I was.”

#TeamJess and #TeamDean fans are brutal! Look, we can’t sit here and say we didn’t want Rory to be with Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) at the end of the revival, but to call Matt names — to his face — is a little extreme. He wasn’t that bad! And he’s only an actor! There were actually times when we were rooting for Logan. It was rare, but it happened.

The end of the Gilmore Girls revival left fans completely hanging after we found out Rory is pregnant! Is Logan the father? Will she tell him? Will Jess raise the baby? We’re still reeling over the possibilities, so when TV Guide sat down with Matt, they asked him if we’ll get our answers in new episodes…

“I think what was so great about the [Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life] was that it had been nine years. The timing felt right for that,” he said. “Are there more to be told? I think fans want them, but will the timing be the same? Will the stories be right? That is yet to be determined.”

Like Matt said, timing really is everything so if the cast and crew can figure out a way then that would be epic! Considering Matt’s just started a gig on FOX’s The Resident and Alexis Bledel is signed on for The Handmaid’s Tale season two with an even bigger role, now might not be the best time for the cast to revisit their roles.

Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino said she’s leaving it all up to the universe. “We really had a very specific journey in our minds and we fulfilled the journey,” she told The Hollywood Reporter following the release of the revival. “So to us, this is the piece that we wanted to do. And the whole thought about, ‘Is there more, is there more, is there more?’ — this has to go out into the universe now. We’ve got to put this to bed, and then whatever happens, happens.”

We’re all crossing out fingers that the universe comes through!
