Remember that DJ who was convicted late last year of groping Taylor Swift during a meet-and-greet back in 2013? Yes, the man who is best known for grabbing the singer’s “bare ass cheek,” losing his job, suing her for it, and then losing that, too? Apparently, his life hasn’t been the same ever since it all happened. Shocker. Now, one year after the ruling – in which he was famously ordered to pay her $1 in damages – David Mueller recently told Radar Online that Taylor “ruined” his life.

When asked what he would say to Taylor now if he was given the chance, he replied, “How can you live with yourself? You ruined my life.” In fact, he maintains his innocence, claiming that the groping never happened even though there’s photographic evidence. Still, he insists that he didn’t actually grab her butt. In the pic, you can clearly see David’s hand behind Taylor and though we can’t actually see him performing the act, it’s rather curious that he would pose for the photo with his hand there. He tried to explain himself, saying he was not ready for the pic. “I admit it was awkward but I never grabbed her. It’s not even close to what happened,” he said.

These days, David works as a morning host at radio station KIX 92.7 in Greenwood, Mississippi, but he said the trial psychologically affected him and the way he interacts with women.

“Now I’m afraid to even talk to women,” he continued. “I feel like I’m in a prison. I’m not myself anymore. I don’t even go near women. It makes me upset. I was always the gentleman. I would always say, ‘’Hey, watch your language, there’s a lady here,’ and then I get accused of this.”

He also admitted to Radar that he knew he was going to lose to Taylor in court, but that he doesn’t regret his decision. As you’ll recall, he sued Taylor first, accusing her of trying to get him fired by reporting the groping to his bosses. In the end, the jury decided there was no proof to suggest that Taylor or her team ever tried to get him fired. “I know that if I didn’t do it I would have never been able to live with myself. At least now that my life is totally screwed up, I’m proud of myself,” David said.

Despite everything, David said he doesn’t “want anything bad to happen to her,” and that he hopes he can move on with his life and career. He’s actually among the very few celebrity #MeToo offenders to have come before a court, which is quite a feat for Taylor. After winning the court case, she released a statement saying her legal fight was for “anyone who feels silenced by a sexual assault.”

We’re still super proud of Taylor for standing up for herself and, though David’s life will certainly never be the same, that’s probably a good thing. Maybe he’ll think twice the next time he feels the urge to grab any part of a woman without consent.
