In case anyone had any doubt the Charmed reboot was going to happen because of all the former cast backlash, think again! TVLine just released the character descriptions for the three leading ladies – and we’re excited AF. Sorry Piper, Phoebe, Paige, and Prue, but there are new witchy sisters coming our way! The new series, which is described as “a fierce, funny, feminist reboot” focused on “three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches,” will center around Macy, Mel, and Madison Pruitt.

According to website, here are the character descriptions for the new sister trio.

MACY: A witty, intense science nerd, Macy — who is in her late 20s — is a Ph.D. in quantum physics who’s moving with her boyfriend Galvin to Hilltowne, Michigan, to work in the university lab. Macy has reason to believe that she is the sister of Mel and Madison. Her power is telekinesis.

MEL: A strong-willed feminist, she feels deeply and is a bit controlling. Mel — who is in her mid 20s and a lesbian —  is the sister of Madison. In the wake of a tragic accident, the grieving Mel becomes angry, defiantly unkempt, even violent, pushing away those who might help her, including her girlfriend, Detective Soo Jin. Mel’s power is time-freezing.

MADISON: Mel’s younger sister (she’s 18-ish), an athletic (pilates, cheerleading) college student pledging a sorority, Madison is the opposite of her feminist sister with a desire to fit in. Madison is horrified to learn she is a witch. Her power is hearing people’s thoughts.

Can we just say that we LOVE the fact that they kept the name alliteration thing going, even if they put the kibosh on “P” names? It’s a perfect tribute to the original sister trio. While we think the OG series was pretty dang feminist for an early ’00s show, we must admit it was lacking some diversity in the LGBTQ+ realm, which makes this character bio reveal all the more exciting! We’re feeling super optimistic about the treatment Mel and her GF, Soo Jin, will get on the reboot!

Though their descriptions are not yet available, TVLine also revealed casting is underway for three more characters including: “devilishly handsome” advisor Harry, as well as Macy’s filmmaker-boyfriend Galvin and Madison’s “sensitive loner” ex, Brian. Will any of these guys be the next Leo? Or Andy?

The website also noted that “all ethnicities” will be considered for the roles. We cannot wait to see which young actresses will get to play these young feminist witches. We were also hoping for the OG Charmed stars make an appearance on the reboot, but Holly Marie Combs’s reaction to the news kind of shut down the possibility. Unfortunately, she didn’t seem too thrilled with the idea.

That wasn’t quite the response fans were expecting from the actress, but there’s still time for her to change her mind. We really hope she does. How epic would it be to have Holly, Rose McGowan, Alyssa Milano and (somehow) Shannen Doherty reprise their roles in the reboot? They could play teachers/mentors or they could even somehow be related to the young witches. Considering there’s drama RN between Alyssa and Rose, we’re not banking on them, either.

If they don’t decide to return, we’re still confident that the present-day Charmed will do well regardless. After all, the show’s fans have been waiting for a reboot ever since the show ended in 2006. No news on when the reboot will air, but we’re all ready to set our DVRs when they do decide to announce it!
