If you’re already missing the moms of Monterey, we have some good new for you: it looks like Big Little Lies might actually be coming back for more. Despite the fact that the miniseries was wildly successful, it was just that: a miniseries. But as it turns out, all hope isn’t lost after all, and a Season 2 could start filming next year.

According to what sources close to the HBO project have told TVLine, the masterminds behind the show are reportedly planning for production beginning in spring 2018. Unfortunately, there aren’t too many details out there about what’s in store for the next season, but knowing this cast — Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Shailene Woodley in particular — we’re confident it will be just as explosive and intriguing as the last season one.

And not too long ago, showrunner David E. Kelley also told the site that he’s “optimistic” about the show’s future, while still echoing the fact that HBO has yet to officially give them the green light. He said:

It’s just a lot of logistical things. But I’m optimistic because everyone wants to do it. We feel we still have storytelling to do. No decision has been made yet, but we’re hopeful. Where we left it, I felt like it did open the opportunity for a lot more storytelling.

The major obstacle for another season to overcome is pretty obvious: Big Little Lies the series ended right where Liane Moriarty‘s book did, and the mystery of who died at the party has been solved — and so have the culprits of Amabella‘s abuse at school. That means that future episodes will consist mostly of brand new material… which is a really exciting concept. And a huge challenge, if you think about it, because how can they possibly top how epic what they’ve already done is? It sounds like the powers that be behind the show are ready to make the next season just as good, if not better than the first, so fingers crossed this ends up really happening when spring rolls around.

It was so hard to say goodbye to Big Little Lies when it ended this year because it was such good television. But knowing that it could be coming back gives us something major to look forward to. Pretty much every actor who was involved in season one said they were down to reprise their roles — so the cast will be stacked with A-listers yet again. If you need us, we’ll be marathoning the original episodes and campaigning for Laura Dern and Zoë Kravitz to have bigger roles this time around.
