Backstreet Boys’ Nick Carter Has Been Accused of Rape
The story Melissa shared is descriptive and sad and made only worse that this was one of her first sexual encounters. In a lengthy post on her blog, Melissa Explains It All, she goes into detail about the night she says Nick assaulted her. Her claims state that Nick invited Melissa to his apartment with a group, took her away to listen to new music he was working on and then, while they were making out, proceeded to take things further without her consent.

“After kissing for a moment, he took my hand and brought me into the bathroom adjacent to his office,” she wrote. “I asked him what we were doing in there. He didn't respond and continued to kiss me. He then picked me up, put me on the bathroom counter and started to unbutton my pants. I told him I didn't want to go any further. He didn't listen. He didn't care.”
She claims he then led her to his room and raped her even after she told him she wanted to save herself for marriage. Melissa even remembers the exact layout of Nick's apartment.
“He threw me on the bed and climbed on top of me,” she continued. “Again, I told him that I was a virgin and I didn’t want to have sex. I told him that I was saving myself for my future husband. I said it over and over again. He whispered in my ear as to entice me, ‘I could be your husband.'”
Is anyone else actually cringing at these words? While every allegation has been tragic and heartbreaking to hear, this one, above all others, is a harder one for me, personally, to digest. I grew up listening to the Backstreet Boys, and like many others, Nick was always my favorite. So when you hear that your childhood crush was accused of rape, it feels like a very innocent part of your past is crumbling to pieces. All those years staring at the posters of Nick hanging on my bedroom walls, I could've been gazing into the eyes of a rapist.
She ended her post with a message of hope for all other victims. “I certainly don't want to be ‘known' for this,” she wrote. “I never wanted anybody to know about my story. I wanted to lock it in a box in my mind and let the memories slowly suffocate as time went on. I feel I have an obligation now to come forward with the hope and intention to inspire and encourage other victims to tell their story. We are stronger in numbers. If you are reading this and you have been assaulted, know you don’t have to be silent and you are not alone. I know it's scary. I'm scared. I believe you. I stand with you and together I hope we can bring light to things that have been lost in the darkness for so long.”
It breaks our hearts to think that the guy we all loved in the '90s could be capable of such an evil act. However, these days, anything is possible. And while we're not the judge or the jury, it's still so important to stand with victims when they come forward — no matter who's the one accused. Nick has yet to comment on the allegations made against him, but if these claims have any truth to them, it's safe to say he'll never sing with the Backstreet Boys again. In fact, BSB as we know it could officially be over.
