WalMart Is Watching Your Pants

Okay, this is kind of creepy: In an attempt to prevent theft, giant conglomocorp Walmart have inserted tags with high radio-frequencies into their jeans, so employees can know what's missing from the shelves. Which is cute and all, except that you can't turn off those RFID tags, not even after you buy them. Not a huge deal, since you can just rip the tags off and throw them away, but doesn't that sort of defeat the purpose of stalking down the culprit who is actually stealing the jeans?
