At 5'11”, Russell often got flak for being “short,” which just made him push harder. During his senior year of college, he led the University of Wisconsin football team to the Big Ten title and the Rose Bowl game and was named the Big Ten Quarterback of the Year. In 2012, at 23-years-old, he was named the starting quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks,. The same year that he also received the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year Award, became the 6th rookie quarterback in NFL history to win a playoff game and tied with Peyton Manning's record for most touchdown passes thrown by a rookie. As if those accolades aren't enough, Russell makes time during the NFL season in between training and games to visit the Seattle Children's Hospital every week. All together now: awww.
