For those of you who work from home, you know it can be a struggle. Not because your work is actually hard, but because staying productive with the fridge, TV and hundreds of other distractions only 10 feet away can be difficult. The willpower you need to actually sit down and crank out work can be insane and sometimes you just want to lie on the couch and read your latest book.

Believe me, I feel you. When I first started working from home a couple years ago, I had the hardest time. And that’s because when you go from having a boss micromanaging your time to being your own boss in charge of your own time and deadlines, you have to make yourself work. It's not like it was back in high school where you could do your English lit paper the night before with no problem — because you've got a million things on your plate and if 9 to 5 is work time, then you better be actually working. That said, it's not quite that easy.

We all need a system of staying productive, especially in the age of technology where most of us have the opportunity to work from home at least every once in a while. Once you figure out the best ways to keep yourself motivated and working hard — even when you're just a few feet from your bed and the possibility of a nap is just too tempting — not only will you be able to get your work done, you’ll be able to get more work done, which means you’ll make more money or have more free time to spare. Cha-ching!
