This Never-Before-Seen Star Wars Blooper Reel Is Worth The 30+ Year Wait

Princess Leia Carrie Fisher in Star Wars gag reel bloopersIf you've only absorbed one thing ever to come out of my mouth, I'm hoping that it was the fact that I love bloopers, because I've said it about ten thousand times on this blog. And I'm about to say it again — I. Love. Bloopers. I love them so much that I'll watch them for movies and TV shows that I haven't even seen. It's an addiction. If I get on a YouTube tear at a reasonable time of night, I'll get so absorbed in my gag reel spiral that I may not look up again until 2:00am. I'm sick in the head, and the only prescription is more…people falling down and flubbing their lines.

So I'm in luck, because a glimmering new gem in the blooper crown has been unearthed, and it's a doozy. Thirty plus years since the movies came out, a gag reel for Star Wars has appeared on the scene at long last to hold off my withdrawal symptoms for another…two minutes and thirty-six seconds, at least. I don't know where they've been hiding them, but they're here. They're finally here. And as a bonus, you don't even have to be obsessed with the movie to get enjoyment out of it. You just have to love life and laughter and joy — can you do that?

Before you watch it, though, just be aware that the sound doesn't come in until after the first few clips. So do sit quietly and wait for it to come on. Don't turn it all the way up and embarrass yourself in front of your colleagues when it comes blaring out of your speakers. Consider yourself warned.

Wasn't that wondrous? Don't you feel so much better about life having just watched storm troopers slip-sliding around on a metal grate and Carrie Fisher breaking in a scene? Don't you feel more qualified to tackle your day now that you've seen how frustrated that one extra got when that other extra's helmet fell off when he took a knee in the hallway? Doesn't it really put things into perspective?

Okay, back to the internet. Nine seasons of Friends bloopers aren't going to re-watch themselves.
