Is Pizza Flavored Ice Cream The Next Big Thing?
Summertime means one thing: Ice cream. Not only is it one of the best things that man has ever created, but what better way to cool down on a hot night than with a cold cone. It's a great
guilty pleasure (literally, not even guilty about it), it helps mend a broken heart after a bad break up, it's an awesome addition to a slice of cake at a grad party and it goes perfectly with a Netflix chill sesh with your girls.
When most people think of ice cream we think of the typical sweet flavors that’ll cool you down during those hot summer days. Though most places bring you your standard vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, ~creative~ ice cream parlors have begun to go above beyond to give you flavors that are a bit more complex and versatile than your run-of-the-mill Mint Chocolate Chip or Cookies ‘n Cream. One flavor that's so wrong but so right is pizza! Yes, you read that right, pizza. Someone has decided to mix two of the best foods in the world together to create a concoction that is out of this world.
While savory ice creams are starting to become all the rage, Philadelphia’s Little Baby’s Ice Cream Parlor came up with this particularly hearty flavor and since it has spread faster than the latest Kim Kardashian gossip. Perhaps a little too unique for some: tomato paste, oregano, garlic, salt and basil are all in the mix for a frozen pizza-flavored treat.
FYI: Little Baby's Ice Cream is located right next door to a pizza shop called Pizza Brain and if you're feeling particularly quirky, you can actually add a scoop on top of your slice. Insiders know the combo is called the Frankford Ave. Hot pizza, cold icecream: seems almost strange enough to work.
