Watching Lupita Nyong’o’s Brother Celebrate Her Oscar Nom Will Literally Cause You To Die From Happiness

Lupita Nyong'o Peter Nyong'o brother awards show red carpet 2014

Last night on Late Night with Jimmy FallonLupita Nyong'o shared a video that her brother, Peter Nyong'o, made to celebrate her getting nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for 12 Years a Slave. And I'll be straight up honest with you — her brother's video completely stole the show. Sure Lupita's great in the interview, but that's par for the course for her now. We expect nothing from her but elegance and grace. To put it bluntly, she's everything that Grandmother wanted Mia Thermopolis to be in The Princess Diaries. And then some.

Her little brother on the other hand is a wild ball of excitement and energy and it's clinically impossible to watch him in this video and not want to get up and dance. Or at the very least, clap along. Even though it's a few days old, it's new to me and I'm sharing it with all of you in hopes that it will make you as happy as it made me. And if you've seen it before, shame on you for not sharing it with the world and making it go viral. It is by far the best thing to come out of Awards Season this year. Which I can't help but compare to the best thing to come out last year's Awards Season — the GIF of Jennifer Lawrence hugging her brothers after her big Oscars win.

While I'd love to just come out and show you the video, I think we should begin with his caption. Because if we just jumped into the video, your heart would straight up explode from happiness. And exploded hearts don't do us any good here at Crushable HQ. So think of the caption as a little warm-up for the video.

Amazing, right? As someone with a little brother who's asked me to stop commenting on Facebook statuses because I'm embarrassing him, I'll answer this for you. It is amazing. There's nothing more precious than a little brother supporting his big sister. (And yes, I'm speaking directly to my own brother here and his unwillingness to tattoo read on his forehead.) And now that your heart's warmed up from that status, I think you're ready to click play. But seriously, be prepared to die from happiness.

Didn't die? GOOD! Because Peter's Instagram is well worth stalking if you're into seeing brothers supporting their sisters.
