Hospital Receptionist Who Fell For Kate Middleton Prank Call Allegedly Committed Suicide

By  |

Whoa, things just got real serious real fast with the Kate Middleton pregnancy. Earlier this week, we brought you the fun news that a radio show prank called the hospital where Kate Middleton was staying for her morning sickness— and actually got transferred through to the nurse in her room by pretending to be the Queen of England.

And now this morning, we have to bring you the incredibly sad news that Jacintha Saldanha, the hospital receptionist, who put the call through to Kate's private nurse allegedly committed suicide.

The King Edward VII Hospital released a statement this morning confirming the news:

“It is with very deep sadness that we confirm the tragic death of a member of our nursing staff, Jacintha Saldanha. Jacintha has worked at the King Edward VII’s Hospital for more than four years. She was an excellent nurse and well-respected and popular with all of her colleagues. We can confirm that Jacintha was recently the victim of a hoax call to the hospital. The hospital had been supporting her throughout this difficult time.”

At the moment TMZ says they're “treating the death as a possible suicide.” There are no more details at the moments, and there probably shouldn't be anymore coming out. Jacintha Saldanha worked as a hospital receptionist and never asked for this kind of attention. The most respectful thing we can probably do now is let her friends and family deal with her death in peace.
