Fame Wore: ‘The Expendables’ Vegas Premiere Features Old Guys, Classy Ladies
I'm not here to say that old men don't have a place in our fashion industry. Just look at some of the greats, like Calvin Klein or Marc Jacobs: Both are over 40, and both still provide what is essentially the backbone for the fashion economy. Sure, they might not be the most glamorous or provocative once they are past their prime (19-32, approximately), but they still churn out fan favorites.
Where old men definitely don't have a place though, is on the cutting edge of wearing the latest trends. I know I'm going to get a lot of harsh reactions from this, but it's true! Who wants to see grandpa in the same purple blazer that Ed Westwick pulled off at a Vogue party last week? Stick with the simple suits, old guys, and you'll be fine.
At least, that's what I took from this uber-premiere party for The Expendables in Las Vegas this week: I didn't actually watch the film, so ex-squeeze me if I didn't know it was supposed to be Gran Torino 2, but I have to say that the ladies at this party were way more classy than the guys, who stuck either with ill-fitting suits or weird eye-grabbing garb. Who knows who these dudes were: studio execs maybe, or someone's older uncle who didn't take his meds and accidentally wandered past security and the red ropes. All I know is: Wrinkles are gross, and aren't appropriate for any season.
