Elizabeth Olsen Gives Fifty Shades Of Grey An Awesome Backhanded Compliment

Well it's looking more and more like no one wants to star as Anastasia Steele in the historical drama Fifty Shades of Grey. Yesterday, supposed frontrunner for the part, Emma Watson shot down the rumors yesterday that she would be cast to play the innocent sextress. And now Elizabeth Olsen, another supposed frontrunner, made a statement along the same lines. I think if one more rumored Anastasia Steele turns down the part before it's even offered to her, we're going to have to accept that Reba McEntire will play both Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey.

Times are tough in the BDSM casting world.

Bullet Media asked her about the rumor and she replied so wonderfully that I think I might have a girl crush now.

“No! No! No! But it’s had a huge impact on society. Apparently rope sales have skyrocketed because women who’ve read the book are really getting into bondage, which is kind of great. It’s such a taboo for women to actually discuss sexuality without the help of Cosmopolitan. All of a sudden, this book has become a sensation because the women reading it haven’t had access to this kind of thing before. I was talking to a guy who was making a joke about it, saying, ‘Clearly these women just need to watch porn.’ In a way, he’s right.”

First she's all like “HELL NO!” then backtracks quickly with, “but it's totally a great book.” Phenomenal PR tactic. Someone's paying their publicist just the right amount of money to teach them how to speak to reporters.

Good for her for turning down this role. As an up-and-coming actress who's so talented that she could reshoot all her sisters' classic films, play both parts and win an Oscar, she's too good for this role.

Leave the role to actresses trying to up their sex appeal after starring on a Disney show for their whole life.
