Anne Hathaway Gave Birth to a Baby Boy, Surprisingly Didn’t Name Him Oscar

Anne Hathaway and Adam Shulman Vanity Fair Oscar party February 2016

It came true! Sorry, I just have to say that about anything even tangentially related to Anne Hathaway. In this case, it's about her giving birth to her first child with husband Adam Shulman. E! News reports, and confirms with Anne's rep, that Anne gave birth to a baby boy early on March 24 in Los Angeles. That's right, it happened two weeks ago, and Anne didn't even send any of us a text about it. Some nerve, am I right?

According to E!, the baby's name is Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman. So they didn't name him Oscar after all. I just assumed they would, since that was such an important moment in Anne's life. But at the end of the day, she already has an Oscar. She doesn't need another one. Unless the Academy wanted to give her one, in which case I'm sure she would be happy to put on her best gown and accept.

E!'s source says everyone's doing well and being happy:

“The baby is extremely healthy and is surrounded by friends and family in L.A. Anne and Adam are ecstatic to be parents.”

Now that Anne has given birth, I wonder how long it will take for Garry Marshall to call her up and start asking when she's free to film The Princess Diaries 3. Oh yeah, that's a thing that's apparently going to happen, so buckle your seat belts. How soon do you think is too soon for Anne to show Jonathan the first two? Hey, he's two weeks old already. Better get a move on. That's necessary viewing material for every human, let alone the son of Mia Thermopolis herself.

Congratulations, Anne and Adam! I'm proud to add Jonathan Shulman to my mental encyclopedia of celebrity baby names. Thanks for not spelling it in a weird way.
