Should Photoshopped Images Be Banned from Ads?

A recent advertisement for Olay Definity featuring British supermodel Twiggy had British Members of Parliament talking. The advertisement was clearly photoshopped and did not resemble the face of a 59-year-old woman. Members of Parliament have proposed a ban on these kinds of ads that target young women and feel that there should be a message on labels alerting consumers of the enhanced images.

"Today's unrealistic idea of what is beautiful means that young girls are under more pressure now than they were even five years ago," British MP Jo Swinson said. "We need to help protect children from these pressures and we need to make a start by banning airbrushing in adverts aimed at them."
