Should Schools Keep Tabs on You?
What if your school gave you a laptop instead of making you lug books around every day? Cool idea, right? That's what the students thought, too until they realized the laptops were used for more than just learning.
A student is claiming that Linday Matsko, an assistant principal at Lower Merion High School in Pennsylvania used the laptop to spy on the student via remotely activating the webcam. The student and his parents are suing, saying that Ms. Matsko accused the student of inappropriate behavior in his home. In the suit, the father confronted Ms. Matsko and she admitted the school could start the webcam and take pictures whenever they wanted.
"Many of the images captured and intercepted may consist of images of minors and their parents or friends in compromising or embarrassing positions, including, but not limited to, in various stages of dress or undress," the lawsuit charges, according to the Daily News.
